1. Go apple picking
Find a nearby apple orchard and bring home a bag of of apples that you picked yourself. Check the apple harvest schedule for the best time to go for your favorite apples. Most orchards will sell goodies like apple cider donuts that you’ll definitely want to try!
2. Decorate the house
Pull out your fall and Halloween decor to display around the house. My kids love helping with this!
3. Stock up on fall scented candles
My absolute favorite fall scent is Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin from Bath and Body Works.
4. Buy new cozy throws blankets
You can never have enough soft throws for when the weather starts to cool. So many great options from stylish cable knit or plaid to fun fall prints.
5. Drink apple cider
Try making your own!
6. Get a pumpkin spice latte
I love stopping for a PSL on the way to to the apple orchard or pumpkin patch to really feel the fall vibes.
7. Make caramel apples
Cut up a bunch of apples and stick them on the end of wood skewers. Then set up a caramel apple dipping station with toppings like mini chocolate chips, sprinkles, chopped nuts and mini marshmallows.
8. Make pumpkin cupcakes
Pumpkin cupcakes with cream cheese frosting are the perfect fall dessert.
9. Plant mums
Planters with mums make for great fall porch decor. Display them next to some pumpkins and haybales for the perfect fall aesthetic.
10. Go to a corn maze
Getting lost with the family through a maze of dried corn husks is a great way to spend a fall afternoon.
11. Go for a hike
Fall is such a beautiful time to go hiking. Enjoy the cool crisp air and changing colors of the leaves.
12. Host a chili cookoff
Find a few people to enter the contest and ask them to bring a pot of their best chili. Invite a bunch of friends and family over to be the judges and vote on their favorite. Provide some drinks, snacks and chili toppings and don’t forget a prize for the winner!
13. Jump in a pile of leaves
Let the kids help rake all the leaves in the yard into a giant pile and then let them have fun jumping in it and throwing the leaves in the air. You’ll have to rake again after, but it will be worth it.
14. Bake banana bread
Overripe bananas that are starting to brown are sweeter and the best to use for banana bread. I use this recipe from Better Homes and Gardens.
15. Make fall craft projects

16. Go to the pumpkin patch
One of my absolute favorite fall activities to do with the family!
17. Carve a pumpkin
Grab a set of pumpkin carving tools and some stencils or make your own design. Lay down a plastic table cloth for easy clean up and save the pumpkin seeds to roast. Younger children can have fun painting pumpkins.
18. Go to a haunted house
Spooky fun for adults and older children. See if there are any kid friendly options that aren’t too scary for younger kids too.
19. Watch Hocus Pocus
A fall bucket list isn’t complete without a family movie night to watch this classic Halloween movie.
20. Watch a scary movie
Watch a kid friendly scary movie like Haunted Mansion or The Nightmare Before Christmas. Put the kids to bed then cuddle up on the couch a watch a truly scary movie.
21. Host a Halloween Party
Put up some party decorations, come up with some Halloween themed snacks and drinks, and have a costume contest.
22. Wear family costumes
Our family costumes are always a hit at Halloween parties and trick or treating. Our kids think its so fun that we dress up with them. We always let them pick the theme. We have done Monsters Inc, Trolls, and Hocus Pocus family costumes.

Taking the kids trick-or-treating is a must on Halloween!
24. Buy new boots and sweaters
Who doesn’t love sweater weather?! Stock up on some cute family outfits for pictures and the holidays.

Whether you’re looking to warm up, burn leaves, roast marshmallows or just have a relaxing night bonfires and fall go hand in hand.
